SIDI (standardized information on dietary ingredients) Implementation
March 11, 2009
The top trade associations in the nutritional supplement industry recently launched a voluntary industry wide protocol called SIDI (standardized information on dietary ingredients). SIDI was created to assist in the exchange of appropriate and required information provided to the finished product manufacturer by their supplier.
SIDI information can be helpful in complying with internal QA requirements and nutritional cGMPs. The SIDI package includes three segments; product information sheets, site quality overview, and supply chain security overview.
At Charles Bowman and Company, we want to provide our customers with the best ingredients and the information that we can. Our quality team believes that this system can help our customers not only save time and prevent costly mistakes, but also highlights the quality of our ingredients and the relationship we’ve formed with our manufacturers. Today Charles Bowman and Company has SIDI books in place for the majority of their ingredients and can be provided to clients upon request.
